Ali Hazelwood

Ali Hazelwood is the pen name of an Italian-born author who moved to the United States for graduate study and became a professor of neuroscience before turning to fiction. Her debut, The Love Hypothesis (2021), began as Star Wars fan fiction and became a New York Times bestseller and a defining title of the BookTok era, establishing her signature setting: romance inside STEM academia, with heroines navigating research culture. She has since published Love on the Brain (2022), Love, Theoretically (2023), the paranormal romance Bride (2024), Deep End (2025), and several novellas, alongside the young-adult chess novel Check & Mate. Her books consistently foreground women in science, drawn from her own experience of academia. She lives in the United States with her husband and, by her own account, too many cats.
