The Time Loop

The day repeats, the repeater remembers, and the universe becomes a laboratory with one subject. The loop is the genre's cleanest experimental design: hold every variable constant except a single mind, then measure what accumulates, skill, knowledge, despair, love, when consequence is suspended and memory is not.

The premise's bill is meaning under repetition. A loop story must answer what actions are worth when they can be unwound, and the strong versions discover that the erasable world sharpens rather than dissolves value, since the only thing that persists, the looper's own change, becomes the only thing that counts. Exit mechanics are where craft shows: the loop's escape condition is the story's moral thesis stated as physics, and it must be discoverable by the reader in retrospect rather than decreed. The delay on the mirror is nil, every routine-bound life recognises the shape. The failure mode is the loop as a joke dispenser, iteration without accumulation, resetting the character along with the day.
