Rebecca Yarros is an American author born in 1981. A military spouse who moved more than twenty times, she wrote her early contemporary romances — beginning with Full Measures (2014) and including the Flight & Glory and Renegades series — largely around themes of military life, service, and family. After more than a decade and twenty novels in contemporary romance, her fantasy debut Fourth Wing (2023), published by Red Tower Books, became one of the fastest-selling adult novels in recent memory; with its sequels Iron Flame (2023) and Onyx Storm (2025) it anchors the Empyrean series, whose fifth and final volumes remain forthcoming. Onyx Storm sold 2.7 million copies in its first week, a twenty-year record for adult fiction. Yarros has written publicly about living with hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, a condition she gave her heroine Violet Sorrengail, and co-founded One October, a nonprofit serving military families. A television adaptation of Fourth Wing is in development at Amazon MGM.
