This site has exactly one affiliate relationship: Bookshop.org, whose every sale supports independent bookshops. When a piece or a book page links there, the link may earn this site a commission at no extra cost to you, and every such link is marked as sponsored in the page code, as search engines require. We hold no other affiliate memberships, with Amazon or anyone else, and if that ever changes, this page changes first, before the first new link goes live. The commission changes nothing upstream: books are chosen for pieces before any link exists, recommendations are never for sale, and a broken book stays broken with a shop at the end of the link or without one.

Advertising

Publishers and authors can advertise on this site through direct placements. Advertising is always visually distinct from editorial, advertisers get no say in what gets reviewed or how, and no review can be bought, at any price, in any currency, including flattery.

Review copies

If a publisher provides a review copy, the piece says so. A free book buys exactly one thing: the possibility of being read. What happens after that is the book's problem.

What we never do

No sponsored reviews. No undisclosed placements. No selling reader data — see the Privacy Policy, which is short because there is so little to confess.
