Sarah J. Maas is an American fantasy novelist, born in 1986 in New York City. She wrote the first draft of what became Throne of Glass at sixteen, serialising it on the online platform FictionPress, where it built a large readership before Bloomsbury acquired it; the novel was published in 2012 and grew into an eight-book series. A Court of Thorns and Roses followed in 2015, its faerie-courts saga widely credited with defining the modern romantasy category, and Crescent City (from 2020) extended her work into adult urban fantasy. Her books have sold more than seventy-five million copies worldwide, been translated into thirty-eight languages, and repeatedly occupied multiple simultaneous positions on bestseller lists during the BookTok era. Screen adaptations of her series have been in development at Hulu and other studios. She is a graduate of Hamilton College.
